Just a quick update:

I'm in Ohio (with the occasional day trip to Pennsylvania, I'm thinking) for the duration of the campaign cycle.  There are so many important states and races and it was hard to pick just one.  But I'm here, and I'll try to update at least once a day.

Queerty has this blog post up about the GOP's homophobic anti-adoption scare tactics in Ohio, but I wanted to make a point about the broader narrative regarding anti-adoption measures.

Not to overly h/t to Pam on here, but she has a great analysis of the Biden/Palin analysis over the Blend.

Pam's analysis is poignant for two particular reasons.  

Well, the numbers don't lie.  Who do independents think won the debate?  According to one CNN poll:  52% Biden, 36% Palin.  Ask CBS:  46% Biden, 21% Palin, 33% Tie.

Well, the **breaking news** item said it all:

"Sen. McCain Reaches Out to Gay Voters"

Don't get me wrong; I'm glad the Republican nominee has finally gotten to the place Democrats have been to for decades--talking to and reaching out to a significant portion of the electorate on basic issues of fairness and equality.

But don't be fooled by an emailed interview.

Our outreach made such a difference that the Obama LGBT blog even commented on it!  Thanks again to all our bloggers for helping out with this.

Kevin Naff has a pretty convincing editorial running in the Washington Blade this week. It centers on what the running mate selections of Senators Obama and McCain mean to their campaigns, our government, and issues of equality.

It was already enough of an insult that Republicans choose to start their convention on Labor Day, a holiday dedicated to working Americans (which the GOP used to attack unions and tout their out-of-touch economic policies).
